My Thoughts on Week One

My objective this week was to develop a schedule for myself regarding the best time for me to spend time working on class work for CD315. I first got myself organized by making a file for hard copies of my work in my file cabinet and a zip file to save copies of my work on my computer. I made copies of all the information pertaining to the class like the syllabus and other information so I could access them easily while I was on my computer. When I read information on the computer it sometimes gives me a headache so i like to make copies and file them in my file cabinet. I thought it was important to take this week to prepare myself for the class and basically figure out my approach to completing the class.
The content for the first week of class was definitely a new experience for me. I have never entered a chat room or created a web log and I needed some practice e-mailing. I also found myself e-mailing friends that I never get around to returning their e-mails. I really like having class in a chat room and in the comforts of my own house. I now see the obsession some people have for sitting at their computer day and night. I don't want to become that addicted but it is interesting to learn.
The process of working on the assignments for this week was a little difficult for me in the beginning. I had apprehension about just jumping right in because of fear of doing something wrong and looking foolish. I'm glad the class is willing to overlook the possibility that some of the questions that may be asked are simple to figure out if you are familiar with web logs and e-mailing etc. I'm still a little sketchy on the process of logging on the Moo, but with practice it'll become easier. I read as much as I could before we logged on Tuesday. I had copies of commands at my side to refer to in case I got stuck. It was an interesting experience and I had to laugh at some of the comments that were made back and forth. We as a class like to tease Matt of course. He has a good sense of humor.
I feel Wednesdays and Fridays are my best days to work on assignments. I think its best to read through the directions and plan a strategy before even attempting to do any work on the computer is best for me. I also think its best to read over all the assighmennts for the week ahead to get an idea of how much trime I need to allow myself to complete them. I need to remember to just ask a lot of questions and stay on top of the assingments each week.
I think I will do better in this class than I thought I would and I'm looking forward to learning new techniques for researching information on the computer. It's going to contribute to my abilitiy to complete assignments easier in my new classes next fall and in grad school. I can't wait to learn more.
I don't have any questions thus far but I'm sure that will change next week.
