The Last Week of CD 315 class.

Part 1:
I am writing a letter to myself to congratulate myself on completing another class towards my Communication Disorders degree and successfully finishing a multigenre research project. Congratulations! I am proud of what I have completed and even a little disappointed to have to see this project end. I really enjoyed doing a unique form of reporting research information. I can only hope that antville.org is around for a while, so that I can continue to create stories and file them away in my weblog. I am hoping to use the journal portion of my weblog to continue documenting my last two semesters of undergraduate school. It has been an interesting learning experience this summer. I hope to share the experience with as many people as possible. That is how excited I am about this project.

Part 2: My tips for future Multigenre explorers. I can remember going through the creation of this project and thinking wow I should have done that earlier. I will give you the simple and obvious tips first. As you will be told in the beginning of class, absolutely make sure that you spread your attention to doing the support assignments throughout the week. Do not let work pile up because you can run into all kinds of computer glitch problems. Also, when choosing your essential question take your time and truly find something that is of upmost interest to you not just your audience. It will take a while to narrow the question down to just the specifics of what you actually want to research. So allow yourself time to do this. As you are going through the research process of finding information you would like to report, document the information immediately for your reference list. I made the mistake of taking information but not documenting it immediately and I had to do that at the last minute. It was a real pain. Also, when creating your weblog topics list, make sure that you plan this out well. Try to consider that the reason for categorizing your support assignments into topics allows you to provide easy links to this information. This is important at the end of the semester, when you are trying to provide a easy way for people to surf through your weblog. Do not be afraid to ask questions. You will be quite suprised how many people are asking themselves the same question. Our class became very helpful in helping each other out with solutions to problems and questions. Be courteous and read your classmates work and comment when you can because this is very helpful to everyone in this creation process.

Week Nine

This week I started out really looking forward to having lunch with my classmates. I had a short, brief meeting with Mrs. Mccomas to get an idea how I could tie my pieces of my project together. She gave some good advice about balancing fact and emotion in my project. I hope I have succeeded at doing that this week. I like the idea of using a newsletter to tie my pieces together. I am still currently working on how I am going to lay it all out. I know what I want to do I just have to go to the library to do it because my computer is so lousy. If anything I am definitely going to go computer shopping at the beginning of our fall semester. I want to be able to use the skills I have learned from this class towards other work I will be doing the rest of my school career. In order to do that I have to update this computer or something.
I realized this week that since my project has a real personal perspective to it I also wanted to make sure the overall color affect was personal also. I put a iris on my front page because that is my favorite flower. I also love the colors of a spring garden so I changed the color scheme. I dont know if people who visit my weblog will see this affect but when I review my work it makes me feel like a fresh spring day. Kind of corny huh? I am still working and connecting and changing just like everyone else in the class seems to be doing. I still find things to change almost everytime I look at my work. I'm looking forward to completing everything early this week hopefully.

Week Eight

I have so many ideas that I want to add to this project but I can't seem to figure out how to do them. I plan on asking people in my class this week when we meet for the last time. I'm looking forward to that meeting because I can't wait to see everyone. I have really enjoyed viewing their work and seeing how they have all pulled it together. I am still working on the finishing touches to mine. I think a lot of my work is lacking conclusion at the end. I am speaking of my editorial and my interview. I am still working hard at tying my pieces together. I know what I want it to look like but I dont quite have it layed out yet. This past week, I struggled with all those computer quirks. Thanks to Lekei I have more Microsoft options on my computer. She allowed me to download her disks. That was very thoughtful. I know I couldn't afford to do that myself. I have been going to the library but unfortunately they only have four computers with a 30 minute time limit on them. Besides some of the people that come in there and get on the internet are kind of creepy looking. I am too scared to peep over their shoulder to see what they might be viewing. Some of them look just like they live on the streets. It's a little unnerving. But that's where I get my best concentration. I am looking forward to attending the library in Huntington this fall instead. Next week is all we have left. I had better get cracking on these little additives I want to include. I still have to site all my information also. I've got my work cut out for me this week. It's too hot to go anywhere else during the day anyways.
