A Large Learning Week

This week I believe my rear end was molded to my chair in front of my computer. It took me a long time to figure out these assignments that are due on June 30th. They were time consuming. Although, once I completed them I had to say wow. I have got to share this experience with one of my friends. He wants to start a weblog himself. We were both fascinated at the way you could categorize and save all this information in one creative package.
I had the most trouble with navigating on the web. It is such a large consumption of information to read and then try to apply. I had the most fun reading a website that researchs the history of the name Watkins. I am going to invite my mom over some day for dinner and then we are going to research it together. We're looking forward to it.
I didn't request a lot of help from other students in the class because I really wanted to figure it out on my own. Which that may have contributed towards how much time it took me to complete the tasks but it was rewarding. I just had to keep troubleshooting and troubleshooting.
I am having a hard time pinpointing an essential question. I want to research alzheimers but more in a specific manner that pertains to speech pathology. I want to obtain this information for personal reasons but also for my class to obtain new knowledge on the subject.
When it came to doing my webliography, I didn't get to make as many changes to it as I would like. I would like to organize and color code things a little bit more. I did the best I could considering the time limit I was on but I would like to go back and change things in the content. I know that with a little more practice my final project webliography will be more elaborate. It was so fun playing around with those html codes.
I still have a lot of catching up to do. I would like to spend some time on Sunday looking over other peoples work and responding with comments. I didn't have any time to do that this week.

A Busy Week

This week I gained my confidance back after I eventually was able to successfully join moo class on Tuesday. I was a bit frustrated but it worked out. I thought with that I would end up having a pretty successful week. However, it didn't turn out that way. I thought I would stick to my schedule like I said in the beginning. I was going to work online on wednesdays and fridays. I didn't take into account lifes unexpected emergencies. So I fell behind, oh well.
I learned some very interesting facts this week regarding e-mail. I recognized in a previous job, how important this skill of communicating by e-mailing is to the business world. I didn't know a thing about e-mailing when I started that job and now with this information at my fingertips, I could have saved myself a lot of time. It was a lesson learned. I no longer have that job because of lack of time, but in the future I am going to be better prepared for the e-mail community. I am struggling to figure out this mail list subscribing and unsubscribing. It sounds simple but I am being very cautious about attempting. I'll get there eventually. As far as other assignments, I will hopefully have them done before midnight monday night. I do not want to get to far behind.
Even though I fell behind in getting the work done this week, I did spend a lot of time reading other peoples work. In classes we have all had together previously, we do not get to view others work except in our groups. I was curious to see how everyone responds to the assignments that we have been presented with. We have some pretty smart people in our class. I took chances on responding to the entries of assignments and even responding to postings on the homepage. This took up quite a bit of time, I don't know how I would do it if I was the professor for this course. I did notice some pretty interesting opinions from the class. I will try to succeed next week at better managing my time for my own work.
When I could not login to the moo class I wrote in my journal on my blog about my frustration. I was concerned about this new classroom setup and the possibility of relying on my computer skills to gain information for the class and to use in my future. I am enjoying the challenge now because of a few successes at some of the assignments. Once I complete an assignment I gain more confidence in the class and in myself. It pays off. I've got to be more optimistic about changing with the times. The ability to access information more quickly and efficiently is at our fingertips, we just have to be patient and willing to learn. The articles we had to read for week one of class draw attention to this very concept. We have to be willing to move forward with our lifelong learning.

Left Out

Well, I couldn't log myself in for moo class today. It was very frustrating. I'm planning to read the discussion later when it is posted. I'm having doubts about this internet class experience. I think I enjoy actually going to a classroom setting where everyone is sitting in their desk and I can ask a question directly to a person rather than my monitor.I feel a little alienated from enjoying the normal atmosphere of a classroom. Well better luck next Tuesday.
